Denison Family of Toronto

Welcome to the web site of the Denisons of Toronto.

We maintain the history of the Denison family. If you're a member of the family, then you know that you're descended from John Denison who settled in York (now Toronto) in 1796. He had arrived in Canada in 1792 at the invitation of an aide to the governor John Graves Simcoe. During the 1800's we were a pretty prosperous family with great influence on Toronto's military and politcal history. In the 1900's we've spread ourselves far and wide while maintaining Toronto as our base.

The cornerstone of that base is the family cemetery. It's located on the banks of the Humber River south and west of Jane and Lawrence in Weston.

You can find it here on Google Maps

Burial in the family cemetery is open to all descendants of the blood of the John Denison and their spouses. As a result, we keep track of all descendants in the family tree. Please click here to view the family tree.

Lastly, if you are a family member there are a few things you should know.

Over time, we hope to add more to this site. Please come back often.
